OUSA UNIVERSAL TERMS & CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION & EVENT ENTRY
These Terms & Conditions (“T&Cs”) apply to all OUSA-run activities, classes, workshops, and events (including concerts, gigs, and alcohol-licensed events). Additional event-specific rules may apply and will be stated at the time of registration or ticket purchase.
In this document, recreation activities/programme refers to any events held at OUSA Clubs and Socs (84 Albany Street, Dunedin) or facilitated by a tutor and alcohol free.
1. General Conduct & Safety
• All participants must treat others with respect and uphold the values of OUSA. Disorderly, offensive, disruptive, threatening, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
• You must follow all instructions provided by OUSA staff and comply with New Zealand law at all times.
• Any hazards, incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to staff.
• Anyone who is intoxicated, behaving inappropriately, or failing to follow staff instructions may be asked to leave without refund and may be subject to further action.
• In the event of an evacuation, follow staff directions and use the designated emergency routes.
• Parking is not provided unless otherwise stated.
2. Age Requirements
Age requirements differ depending on the activity or event and will be clearly stated at the time of booking/ticket purchase.
Valid photo ID may be required to enter any OUSA activity or event.
For events involving alcohol:
o You must be 18+ to purchase or consume alcohol.
o Under-18 attendees (where permitted) may be subject to additional requirements such as presenting a valid Student ID.
o Supplying alcohol to minors is prohibited and may lead to eviction and referral to police.
3. Registration, Tickets & Entry
Tickets
Entry to all OUSA activities and events requires a valid ticket issued by OUSA or an authorised ticketing agency. Tickets may be issued as:
• Digital/mobile tickets
• Email/PDF tickets
• Physical tickets (if applicable)
• Tickets exchanged for wristbands at larger events
Where wristbands are issued, they must be worn at all times. Removed, tampered-with, or damaged wristbands/tickets will be invalid and not replaced.
Ticket replacement
Lost, destroyed, or stolen tickets may not be replaceable unless proof of purchase is provided and replacement is possible.
Purchase limits & resale
Ticket limits and resale restrictions may apply and will be enforced where applicable.
Entry screening (applies to events where stated)
Bag checks, personal searches, and prohibited item checks may be conducted. Entry may be denied if you refuse a search.
3. Photography, Filming & Media
Personal photography/filming
• Recreation activities: Personal photography or filming is not permitted unless prior permission is granted by the Recreation Programme Coordinator or supervising staff.
• Events:
o Personal digital cameras may be permitted unless stated otherwise.
o Professional photography equipment (e.g., telephoto lenses, detachable lenses, tripods) is prohibited unless accredited.
o Recording or filming performances is strictly prohibited unless authorised.
o Event staff determine what qualifies as professional equipment.
Any unauthorised recording, filming, or photography may result in deletion/confiscation of media and/or removal from the event.

By attending any OUSA activity or event, you consent to being photographed or recorded for operational, archival, and promotional purposes.
4. Refunds, Cancellations & Changes
OUSA-initiated cancellations or changes (all activities/events)
OUSA may alter, postpone, relocate, or cancel an activity or event for operational, safety, or unforeseen reasons. OUSA will notify affected participants as soon as possible.
• No refunds unless required by the Consumer Guarantees Act or where OUSA cancels the event.
• Events proceed rain or shine unless unsafe.
• Artist line-ups, times, and programmes may change without refund.
• No refunds if you fail to present valid ID or are removed due to intoxication, misconduct, or prohibited items.
Ticket name changes
Where supported by the ticketing agency, transfer/renaming fees may apply.
5. Liability, Risk & Indemnity
(Structured to honour the stronger EVENT liability language but still apply appropriately across recreation activities.)
• Participation and attendance are at your own risk, except where OUSA has been negligent.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, OUSA, venue owners/lessors, contractors, staff, and volunteers are not liable for:
o Personal injury
o Property damage
o Loss, theft, or consequential loss
o Economic loss
arising from your attendance, participation, or behaviour.
• You agree to indemnify OUSA and venue operators for any loss or damage arising from your negligence or breach of these T&Cs.
• Appropriate clothing and footwear may be required.
• No moshing, crowd surfing, or stage diving.
• OUSA may arrange emergency medical assistance at your cost if considered necessary for your safety.
6. Alcohol, Drugs & Prohibited Items
Alcohol
• Alcohol may only be consumed at licensed events.
• No alcohol may be brought to licensed events.
• At alcohol-free activities/events, alcohol possession or consumption is strictly prohibited.
• Intoxicated persons may be removed without refund.
Drugs
• Illicit drugs are prohibited at all OUSA activities and events.
Prohibited items
Large events may specify prohibited items. These will be listed in event information where applicable.
7. Privacy
OUSA may collect personal information for registration, ticketing, operational, and safety purposes.
Payment details are processed by third-party providers and not stored by OUSA.
You may request access to or correction of your personal information through the provided contact channels.
8. Environment & Community Care
Attendees must respect venues, facilities, and the community. Dispose of rubbish properly and comply with sustainability practices where provided.
9. Enforceability
If any provision of these T&Cs is found unenforceable, the remainder of the document continues in full force.
